According to the director (and producer) of Final Fantasy 14, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version will keyboard and mouse controls, including support for the Joy-Con 2.

Plans to bring the MMORPG over to the console were finally confirmed last week. Now we have confirmation that you’ll be able to use mouse controls right out of the box. Every Nintendo Switch 2 system is sold with the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls built in.

Single-player Final Fantasy 14

According to Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida, Square Enix has thought about making a single-player game set in the same world.

Yoshida made the remarks during a press event. He was asked about the possibility of creating a different type of game that would be single-player that potentially follows side characters or a different period of time.

According to Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, a Yoshi movie was very much under consideration at one point.

You may recall that in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, a few Yoshis do appear – but only extremely briefly. There was also a post credits scene hinting at Yoshi getting a more prominent role in the future.

Now speaking with Famitsu, Miyamoto revealed that before settling on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie a Yoshi film was considered at one point. The proposal was focused on the character “entangled in various escapades across New York City”.

Without diving into spoilers, The Super Mario Galaxy delves more into Princess Peach as a character and her backstory. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, this is something Nintendo will look to adhere to moving forward.

Nintendo Dream recently mentioned to Miyamoto that Peach has been expanded upon in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. He was asked if what’s shown can be considered canon.

Miyamoto said in response:

Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, has shared a few comments about negative reviews The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has received.

Just like the previous films, this one didn’t have the best critical reception. Right now The Super Mario Galaxy Movie sits at a 43 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it’s worth noting that the fan reception is much higher at 89 percent.

According to Nintendo, the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream team “obsessed over getting the sound just right” with the game’s usage of farting. That tidbit comes from an interview that just went live today.

Farting is one of the game’s little quirks. These quirks can be given to Miis to give them even more individuality. While farting is one such example, other quirks include how they enjoy their food or having them toss and turn while they sleep.

Nintendo has spoken about the development of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, revealing that the game was in development for nearly a decade.

Director Ryutaro Takahashi spoke about what led to the creation of a new entry in the series as part of a recent interview. After talking things over with franchise producer Yoshio Sakamoto and feeling that they had “already squeezed all we could” from the 3DS title, and wanted to make a new game.

Donna Orlowski, the COO of Chucklefish, has explained why Witchbrook has taken so long to release.

Back in 2016, the project was first teased. A year later, it was announced as Spellbrook, and then became Witchbrook in 2018. We’ve essentially seen the last decade fly by, but the game has still yet to debut.

Nintendo and Illumination have commented on the decision to feature Super Mario Galaxy as the second film following The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Before the project was announced, many didn’t anticipate that the Wii games would be adapted for the big screen so quickly. That’s just what we got though, and now Shigeru Miyamoto and Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri have spoken about how we got here.

While hopes of a Super Smash Bros. movie had never been higher, it’s time to pump the breaks a bit as Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has indicated that such a project won’t be happening anytime soon.

Miyamoto was recently discussing The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and how it has characters like Pikmin and R.O.B. With some fans discussing the possibility of a “Nintendo Cinematic Universe”, Polygon asked how how much he wants to grow Mario’s world to bring in other characters.
