Star Fox’s original artist comments on Nintendo Switch 2 game’s character designs
Takaya Imamura, who came up with the original looks for the Star Fox crew at Nintendo, has commented on the designs of the characters in the upcoming game for Switch 2. A few remarks were shared on social media.
Imamura hasn’t been with Nintendo for a few years, so he’s not working on the new title. However, that doesn’t mean he lacks appreciation for the series. In his initial message, Imamura thanked Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and said he was “proud”.
One fan asked Imamura what he thinks of the new character designs. He initially offered up the following comment: “I guess this is how it turns out if I’m not supervising… or something like that. I think the concept is good.”
Imamura was asked by another fan as well about the same topic. In response, he said: “Personally, I prefer the movie version, but I thought this one was good in its own right – it had a clear direction.”
We’re a little over a month away from Star Fox’s return with the game due out on June 25, 2026. We’ve got a Nintendo Switch 2 vs. N64 graphics comparison for you here.
