007 First Light dev explains why it delayed the Nintendo Switch 2 version
Hakan Abrak, the CEO of developer IO Interactive, has spoken about the decision to delay the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light.
The game itself was originally pushed back from March to May. However, the Nintendo Switch 2 version has been delayed even further with the game now targeted for this summer.
The Game Business recently asked Abrak if 007 First Light will pull a Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2. If you remember, Borderlands 4 was delayed on the console and now has essentially disappeared.
Abrak had this to say about 007 First Light’s delay on Nintendo Switch 2:
“It’s running on the Switch 2. We just want to make sure it’s good as it can be. I don’t want to hear it wasn’t a good version. To be completely honest, we need a bit more time to get it where we want it to be. We said summer. It’s probably going be late summer. But we’re going to get it out. Bond has a special place on Nintendo. And I promise I will do everything I can, and I can do quite a lot being the CEO, to get that in a great shape.”
Abrak also had a quick note on Hitman World of Assassination. He said that the Nintendo Switch 2 version has had “steady, ongoing sales, and it’s an important platform for us.”
We brought up Borderlands 4 here, and it’s particularly strange as Nintendo Switch 2 copies of the game were recently spotted in the wild despite the indefinite delay. We have more information about that here.
