Nintendo and Illumination releasing mystery movie in 2028

Nintendo and Illumination are teaming up for another movie coming in 2028, it’s been revealed.

The film actually already has a set release date of April 12, 2028. However, nothing else about the project has been shared at the moment.

Today’s news comes from an official Universal Pictures document. A release schedule has been published in Spanish outlining upcoming movies through 2030. As mentioned above, Nintendo and Illumination’s project is coming in 2028.

Nintendo and Illumination’s partnership has thus far resulted in two projects. The Super Mario Bros. Movie debuted in 2023. Following that, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie just dropped in theaters this month.

Movies are clearly becoming increasingly important to Nintendo. Next year, The Legend of Zelda is hitting the big screen with a live action film.
