Nintendo just announced a price increase for Switch 2. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean the system’s cost won’t go up any further.
We’ve seen unprecedented changes with gaming hardware prices during this console generation. In the past, you’d typically expect a system to go down in price over time – or at least stay the same. However, all of the console manufactures have moved forward with price increases.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream still seems to be doing well. It was #1 last week, and while it’s fallen, that’s only by one spot. Pokemon Pokopia is moving up again and is now back in the top three.

During the Q&A portion of Nintendo’s financial results briefing, one investor brought up how Mario Kart World’s sales momentum seems to have decreased since the discontinuation of hardware bundles. President Shuntaro Furukawa was asked about the reasons behind this.
It’s worth noting that Mario Kart World is still the best-selling Nintendo Switch 2 game by far. Since launch, it has sold 14.70 million copies. The next closest is Donkey Kong Bananza at 4.52 million.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has shared additional comments about Switch 2 hardware, including performance in the west and the importance of system sellers.
There’s good news about the console’s sales in the west as things have picked up since the start of the year. This started in January with Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and big update, followed by Pokemon Pokopia in March. Furukawa provided that information during a financial results briefing Q&A.

Last week, the company announced that the system sold nearly 20 million units through the end of its fiscal year. According to Furukawa, that number fully surpassed its expectations.

May 7: Takaya Imamura, who came up with the original looks for the Star Fox crew at Nintendo, has commented on the designs of the characters in the upcoming game for Switch 2. A few remarks were shared on social media.
Imamura hasn’t been with Nintendo for a few years, so he’s not working on the new title. However, that doesn’t mean he lacks appreciation for the series. In his initial message, Imamura thanked Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and said he was “proud”.
