Here’s a quick Random Thoughts reflection in which I discuss my excitement to play Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo’s portable. Question for you: if you had to choose between the two versions, would you go for Smash Bros. on Wii U or 3DS?

Don’t count out Pokken Tournament for Wii U just yet
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 16 Comments
Pokken Tournament was announced a few days ago, which wasn’t all too shocking given the teaser image we saw last August. What was a bit surprising, however, was that the game was only confirmed for arcades.
But don’t worry just yet! During Famitsu’s stream, Pokemon president Tsunekazu Ishihara was asked about the decision to make an arcade game. Bulbagarden points out, “The way Ishihara phrased his answer, talking about doing arcade first, does suggest that Pokkén will eventually come to console.”
Wii U, anyone?! I know I could see something like that happening!
Thanks to Jake for the tip.
Masahiro Sakurai discusses game debugging

In last week’s issue of Famitsu, Masahiro Sakurai wrote a new column that goes into detail about the debugging process with games. Although nothing earth-shattering was revealed about the new Smash Bros., it’s quite an interesting read (though there is some Smash talk).
We’ve finally managed to put up a translation of Sakurai’s column. Head past the break to read it in full.
Reggie on first wave of Amiibo figures, different from Skylanders/Disney Infinity, third-parties will come to Wii U as install base grows

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime spoke about a few different topics in a recent interview.
First, regarding the initial wave of Amiibo figures, he stated:
“We wanted to make sure that the breadth of characters we had for the initial ‘amiibo’ line-up supported the fan favorites, as well as showcase the variety of people Nintendo speaks to — from kids to adults. For example, you’ve got a character like Marth from the ‘Fire Emblem’ series. We thought exposing Marth to a wider collection of consumers through ‘amiibo’ made a ton of sense, but, of course, we had to have Mario, Princess Peach and Donkey Kong in that initial line-up, as well.”

3DS Homebrew Channel release pushed back
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS, News | 8 Comments
The wait for the 3DS Homebrew Channel will continue on. Smealum, the project’s coder, has decided to delay its launch due to the upcoming release of New 3DS. He now hopes to enable homebrew on all 3DS systems, and potentially take advantage of New 3DS’ added power as well.
Smealum wrote on Twitter:
“I’ve worked way too long and hard on this to throw it away. This exploit is our best chance to get a look at the new 3DS coming out in one month. Using this as an entrypoint … gives us a fighting chance to defeat whatever new shit might be in there.”
The 3DS Homebrew Channel doesn’t have an estimated release date, though Smealum doesn’t expect the delay to carry into 2015.
