While hopes of a Super Smash Bros. movie had never been higher, it’s time to pump the breaks a bit as Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has indicated that such a project won’t be happening anytime soon.
Miyamoto was recently discussing The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and how it has characters like Pikmin and R.O.B. With some fans discussing the possibility of a “Nintendo Cinematic Universe”, Polygon asked how how much he wants to grow Mario’s world to bring in other characters.

Shigeru Miyamoto says he’s “on a mission to try to include Pikmin in any kind of Nintendo product we put up”

It’s no secret that Pikmin is Shigeru Miyamoto’s baby. Miyamoto was also responsible for the likes of Mario and Zelda, but he’s always had a soft spot for the plant-animal hybrid creatures.
Even when Pikmin wasn’t lighting the sales charts on fire, Miyamoto never gave up on Pikmin. The series has now seen four different titles and is popping up elsewhere. You may have spotted Pikmin at Super Nintendo World, and now the creatures even have a cameo appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

Posted on 5 days ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
We’re just a few hours away from the debut of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and reviews for the film are now coming in.
This is a follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which released in 2023. This time around, Nintendo worked with Illumination to create something based on the Super Mario Galaxy games for Wii. However, don’t expect a 1:1 recreation of those titles. Super Mario Galaxy is the focus at the end of the day, but we’ve seen elements of Super Mario Odyssey and even the inclusion of Fox McCloud from Star Fox.

Another Nintendo game has been used in a social media post from the White House, and this time it’s Animal Crossing’s turn.
National Agriculture Week 2026 recently just took place with National Agriculture Day specifically happening on March 24. The White House felt that Animal Crossing was a good fit to promote this, and decided to feature the franchise in a piece of art (pictured above).
A short clip was also shared online. We’ve included that below.

Metacritic’s 16th annual game publisher rankings released, Nintendo ranks #12
Posted on 1 week ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Switch, Switch 2 | 0 comments
Metacritic just went live with its 16th annual publisher rankings, and as usual we’re able to get a look at Nintendo’s placement. The company did see an improvement this past year.
Previously, Nintendo ranked #22 in 2024. In 2025, the company was actually powered by past titles – Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom’s new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition scored well with critics and were some of the highest rated releases. Another game that did well was Donkey Kong Bananza, which had a score of 91. Drag x Drive was one title which lowered Nintendo’s Metascore.
Rumor: Nintendo Switch 2 production to be cut by over 30% due to weak US sales

In a new report, Bloomberg claims that Nintendo is planning to lowered their output of the Switch 2 due to weak sales in the United States. The company had originally planned to produce six million systems for this quarter, but now they are looking to make six million, with the reduced output rate set to continue in April.
Back in November, Bloomberg had reported that Nintendo was preparing to supply over 20 million units within the console’s first year on the market. Nintendo Switch 2 had a record breaking launch with high optimism for the console, until reports of slow sales started appearing after launch, and even into the holiday season. Even then, the system managed to sell 17.37 million units by December 31, 2025.
The top 10 best Super Mario games ranked
Posted on 2 weeks ago by Ethan Gnau in DS, Features, General Nintendo, Switch, Switch 2, Wii, Wii U | 0 comments
Nintendo recently celebrated its favorite holiday, MAR10 Day – which means there’s no better time to rank the mainline Super Mario titles. For reference, this only includes games that the company considers to be “main series”, which generally includes 2D Mario and 3D Mario, but not Wario Land or Yoshi’s Island (even though the former was called Super Mario Land 3 and the latter Super Mario World 2). It also includes Super Mario Run, for whatever reason, and as you might expect that game is nowhere to be found on our list.
Before you read, keep in mind that this is of course a heavily subjective list, and it’s more to promote all of you ranking your own lists in the comments down below than anything else. Feel free to share your thoughts after you read our top ten!
