Nintendo doesn’t want dirty jokes in the Mario movies, but Wario could appear in future films
Wario has yet to make an appearance in the Mario movies, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen at some point. Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has left the door open to the possibility.
Miyamoto recently took part in an interview with Crack-In where he briefly brought up Wario. The outlet asked what he prioritizes when making movies specifically for a younger audience.
Miyamoto first brought up how he doesn’t want to make kids laugh just by using dirty jokes, and apparently Nintendo has banned Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri from using them in the films. However, he quickly mentioned that this doesn’t mean Wario won’t appear in the future.
Miyamoto told the outlet:
“I believe that children are ‘already adults, just with less knowledge.’ That’s why I don’t want to make them laugh with dirty jokes, so I’ve actually banned Chris from using them (laughs). Oh, but that doesn’t mean Wario won’t be in the movies! Action is something that both adults and children can relate to equally, so I think if we focus on action, we can create a movie that won’t be boring.”
Miyamoto also recently commented on why The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is so fast-paced. In case you missed it, we have his comments here.
