Final Fantasy XIV on Nintendo Switch 2 has some frame rate issues, game director says players don’t have to be concerned
A port of Final Fantasy XIV for Nintendo Switch 2 was announced just yesterday during a keynote at the Anaheim Fan Festival. Afterwards the director of the game Naoki Yoshida, also known as Yoshi-P, held a press conference mentioning the game’s performance on Nintendo Switch 2.
Yoshi-P states that the biggest hits to frame rate are in certain areas like towns, since they tend to be crowded with players. He does go on to state that they are still able to achieve a stable 30 frames per second, and therefore players shouldn’t be too concerned. He also speaks about how much he enjoys the Nintendo Switch 2 for its versatility.
Here are the full quotes from Radio Times:
“I want to be honest with you, we are working really hard on the optimization,
We are striving to get the best performance.
I think with the towns, you may see a lower frame rate, only because there are so many players that are rendered on the screen.
We are still able to reach 30 frames per second in a stable state, and so, considering Duty content, I think the performance is something that you don’t have to be concerned about.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is a wonderful console, and I think you can choose the way you want to play,
You are more free to choose which mode to play in, so I hope that players will find the way to play that is most suited for themselves.”
Final Fantasy XIV is slated to hit the Nintendo Switch 2 this August, and will require a separate subscription from Nintendo Switch Online. If you’d like to read more specifics about the game, you can check that out here.
