Star Fox Switch 2 amiibo support

The new Star Fox game for Switch 2 will feature amiibo support, according to Nintendo.

We got plenty of the details about the title this week, but news about amiibo functionality went under the radar. To be fair, it’s a bit hidden – there’s only a brief mention of it over on the official Japanese website.

When you scan a compatible amiibo in Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2, you’ll be able to receive special emblems and backgrounds. These can be used for your “Battle Banner” which is shown during online matches. Compatible figures include Fox, Falco, and Wolf from the Super Smash Bros. line.

amiibo support is in, but it doesn’t look like there’ll be any special figures made for the game. There’s still technically a few weeks to go before launch, but given that there wasn’t any news in this week’s Nintendo Direct, it’s probably safe to say that there’ll be any new amiibo – unless it comes after launch.

Star Fox is planned for a June 25, 2026 release on Nintendo Switch 2. If you’re wondering what the original artist for the series thinks of the new character designs, head on over here.
