Rumor: Nintendo Direct happening by mid-June
According to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, a Nintendo Direct will air by the middle of June. In other words, if true, a presentation should be expected sometime within the next few weeks.
Grubb shared that tidbit of information during the latest Giant Bombcast episode. He doesn’t currently have an answer as to whether it would be a Partner Showcase or a full on Nintendo Direct, but is currently assuming the latter.
At least when it comes to presentations, Grubb has been on the mark as of late. He previously shared last year about a couple of upcoming PlayStation State of Play presentations that turned out to be accurate.
Nintendo often holds Directs in June. However, the company has pivoted to using the Nintendo Today app to share a number of announcements this year. Aside from a Partner Showcase in February, we’ve had a couple of broadcasts for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as well as Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and the unveiling of Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2. No general Nintendo Directs have taken place thus far in 2026.
A Nintendo Direct could come in handy to show off what else is in store for Switch 2 for the rest of the year. The company doesn’t have any games dated beyond July. That said, we know that Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is coming this year.
There are also plenty of rumors out there as to what we could be getting for the rest of 2026. One big release that could be in the works is a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
