Nintendo’s BoxBoy + BoxGirl could be getting a Switch 2 release
Yet another ratings board leak may have taken place with BoxBoy + BoxGirl seemingly bound for Nintendo Switch 2.
A new classification for the game has appeared over in Taiwan. The rating has a date of September 8, 2025. We’re quite a few months removed from that date, so it’ll be interesting to see if anything materializes in the months ahead.
Based on the Taiwanese rating, it looks like BoxBoy + BoxGirl could be getting some sort of re-release on Nintendo Switch 2. Unfortunately, the classification doesn’t give any hints as to what could be new with this version.
As many fans know, BoxBoy was a very prominent series during the Nintendo 3DS days. After three games on that system, the puzzle franchise got its first console title with BoxBoy + BoxGirl on Switch. It’s been six years since Nintendo has done anything with the IP.
We’ll note that while BoxBoy is a Nintendo franchise, HAL Laboratory is its developer. HAL typically develops Kirby games, but every now and then, the studio works on something else. The company previously released Part Time UFO a few years ago – learn about that one here.
There have been a ton of ratings board leaks as of late, including two this week alone. Read about the discovery of Tales of Eternia Remastered Tales of Eternia Remastered and Dragon Quest 11 S for Nintendo Switch 2 here.
