The Legend of Zelda movie is changing its release date once again, but this time it’s moving forward. The film will now hit theaters on April 30, 2027.

This marks the second release date change. Originally, the The Legend of Zelda movie was planned for March 26, 2027. Nintendo later announced that the release date had been delayed to May 7. Now fans will be able to see it in theaters a week earlier than last planned.

Nintendo officially announced the Zelda movie in November 2023. That reveal came with the news that Sony Pictures would be co-financing and handling worldwide theatrical distribution. Wes Ball was also slotted in for the director role while Derek Connolly was in charge of the screenplay.

Last summer, it was announced that Benjamin Evan Ainsworth would be playing Link. We also found out that Bo Bragason is playing Princess Zelda.

As is the case with the animated Mario movies, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto is on board as a producer. Today’s news about the release date was actually shared by Miyamoto on social media. He said the following message:

“The team is working hard to deliver the film to everyone as soon as possible. There’s less than a year to go until release, so thank you for waiting.”

Last month, art of the film surfaced showing Link. In case you missed it, we have that image here.
