Pokemon

At the time of writing, it’s been well over ten years since every single Pokemon received its first main series 3D model. As the first 3D game in the series, Pokemon X and Y fully converted every single one of its creatures to three dimensions, and some of them translated better than others. So today, we’re looking at Pokemon who looked better as 2D sprites, and how you could fix their 3D models to give them more personality and charm. In many cases, it’s actually the animations that need to be improved – the base 3D models are generally fine, with a few small exceptions here and there.

Quaxly Build-A-Bear Pokemon

Another new Pokemon Build-A-Bear is in production, and this time it’s for Quaxly.

Quaxly, a strong swimmer who always takes care to keep itself looking neat and stylish, originally appeared in Generation 9. If you played Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you should be familiar with it.

The Pokemon Company recently suffered from an extremely in-depth leak that has revealed just about all of their plans for the next five years. It stands to reason either way, then, that the tenth generation of Pokemon is coming sooner rather than later. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet had some good ideas, solid music, and great Pokemon designs, but it’s safe to say that a vast majority of the game could be improved for the next iteration.

Pikachu LEGO set

Nearly a year after plans were initially announced, we finally have news about the first Pokemon LEGO sets. Everything is dropping on February 27, 2026.

It looks like the line is kicking off with three products and a bonus. First up is Pikachu and Poke Ball, which has 2,050 pieces. Also planned is a combination of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise at over 6,838 pieces. There’s another one for Eevee at 587 pieces. The Pokemon Kanto Region Badge Collection, standing in at 312 pieces, will be available as a gift with purchase set.

To kick off 2026, Build-A-Bear has revealed Ponyta as its next Pokemon collaboration. The creature will be offered with a new plush.

Ponyta is one of the earlier Pokemon having appeared during the first generation. The Fire Horse Pokemon is known for its stunning mane and tail.

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a public statement as to why it’s been using popular gaming franchises such as Pokemon to promote its activities.

Last month, the DHS put up a video which included the theme song from the Pokemon anime as well as some interstitial cuts from the show and mock-ups of trading cards for some ICE arrests. That prompted a response, in which The Pokemon Company said it wasn’t involved at all.

As more information comes online through a previous Game Freak hack, we now have insight into some behind-the-scenes happenings at the studio, including why Junichi Masuda is no longer directing Pokemon games.

You may recall that in 2018, Masuda indicated he was pretty much done with the role following Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Eevee. That has largely been the case – with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl as exceptions.

Pokemon Gen 10 Pokemon Wind Waves

New details about Pokemon Gen 10 may have surfaced, with leaks now supposedly making the rounds. They are tentatively going by the names Pokemon Wind and Pokemon Waves, which are planned as Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives. Everything stems from the Pokemon “Teraleak” that previously happened.

We’ll be sharing what’s been posted online after the break. Keep that in mind before proceeding. Note that some of the details are machine translations, so some tidbits may be a bit wonky. Also, some aspects may have change during development.

You may have seen some unexpected Pokemon headlines this week after a video was posted by the Department of Homeland Security which featured the theme song from the Pokemon anime. That same clip also had some interstitial cuts of the show and mock-ups of trading cards for some of the individuals arrested.

Many who saw the video on Monday have shared various thoughts about the situation. Now, however, we get to hear from The Pokemon Company directly.

In a statement, the following was mentioned:

mispronounced Pokemon

Another round of names have been released that covers some of the most mispronounced Pokemon.

A few days ago, an image surfaced from the 2025 Pokemon Championships showing how Rayquaza is supposed to be pronounced. The intended way of doing so is with ray-KWAY-zuh. Some fans had instead been using Ray-KWAH-zuh, which we now know technically isn’t correct.

It turns out that a few other names were showcased during the 2025 Pokemon Championships, and now those have been shared online. Here’s the full list of mispronounced Pokemon:
