Rumor: Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition Nintendo Switch 2 release date leaked

SEGA has yet to officially announce Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition, but the game’s release date has apparently been leaked.

billbil-kun reports that the game will launch on June 23, 2026. We’re also hearing that it will cost $50 and a physical release is confirmed. However, it’s unclear if that means a proper cartridge version or a game-key card.

June 23 is a very significant date. That’s actually the same day as Sonic the Hedgehog’s anniversary. This year, the franchise turns 35.

billbil-kun has a very accurate track record when it comes to gaming leaks. As just one example, he correctly reported on the release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Nintendo Switch 2 before it was announced. This person seems to have early access to retailer information.

Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition was previously leaked a couple of months ago. The game popped up in the Taiwanese classification database, but no details were provided.

Sonic Frontiers originally came to Nintendo Switch at the end of 2022. A Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 should at least come with visual enhancements.
