Pragmata Nintendo Switch 2 tech analysis, including frame rate and resolution
Pragmata is just about to launch, and Digital Foundry has offered up some technical details about the Nintendo Switch 2 version, including frame rate and resolution.
Overall, there’s a lot to like about this port. Capcom did have to make some graphical cuts, but this is a current-gen game running on the hardware. Probably the biggest issue is the frame rate – it doesn’t really hit 60 FPS, and because it’s unlocked, things may not feel stable.
Here’s the full roundup of tidbits:
– Switch 2 has lighting downgrades compared to PS5
– Ambient occlusion largely or entirely absent on Nintendo’s console
– Shadow maps are also at a lower resolution and have softer appearance
– A lot of objects excluded from shadow maps as well and some lights no longer appear to be shadow casting
– GI quality paired batch on Nintendo Switch 2
– Screen space reflections are a lower quality
– Asset quality takes a hit on the system
– Biggest change on Nintendo Switch 2 is hair – more typical card-based approximation used
– Nintendo Switch 2 version uses DLSS
– Docked output resolution of 1080p (internal is about 540p)
– Portable internal resolution is about 360p
– Image output is softer, but often cleaner than PS5 with more refined and geometric specular detail
– Unlocked frame rate
– Dense exterior sequences run at 30-40 FPS
– Interiors are mostly in the 50s
– Switch 2 and Xbox Series S versions are similar with Switch 2 having some advantages
