May 6: We’re now just one month away from celebrating the first anniversary of the Nintendo Switch 2, and while the system has seen plenty of major releases worth celebrating, one notable app is still missing from the platform. That absence has raised some questions: notably, why isn’t YouTube available on the new hardware yet? For now, though, it seems a workaround has been discovered.

Longtime Mario developer Takashi Tezuka retiring as executive officer from Nintendo

According to Nintendo, Takashi Tezuka is retiring from his role as an executive officer. This little piece of news snuck in as part of the company’s financial results that were published today.
Right now it’s unclear what Tezuka’s role is going forward. Tezuka won’t be an executive officer, but we can’t say for sure if he’s retiring from Nintendo entirely.

The latest Nintendo release schedule has now gone live as part of the company’s May 2026 financial report.
Splatoon Raiders and Rhythm Heaven Groove have been updated to include their recently-announced release dates. Star Fox, which was just announced a couple of days ago, is here as well.
The only remaining question right now is Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave – but it’s still coming this year. Nintendo’s second half of 2026 is also largely a mystery, but a Nintendo Direct or news from Nintendo Today could give us a better idea as to what’s planned. As always, we’ll keep you updated on what’s to come.

Nintendo’s May 2026 financial results have provided the latest update on million seller games for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch.
The big new title here is Pokemon Pokopia. We technically already knew this was a million seller, but we now have the latest total, which is over four million. The re-releases of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are also at the same number.
Finally, we’ll give a shoutout to Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. In just two weeks, the game sold over 3.8 million copies.

Nintendo announces Switch 2 price increase, going into effect worldwide

Nintendo is increasing the price of Switch 2 worldwide, the company has announced.
In the U.S. and Canada, the system is going up by $50. Europe will essentially see the console rise by €30. Over in Japan, Nintendo Switch 2 will increase by 10,000 yen, and there’ll be increases for Switch 1 there as well.
The dates for the Nintendo Switch 2 price increase vary by region. In Japan, this is happening on May 26. For pretty much everywhere else, you’ll have until September 1.

Resident Evil Requiem update live, adds Leon Must Die Forever mini-game

The much-discussed mini-game for Resident Evil Requiem has just been made available as part of a new update for the game, which is revealed to be Leon Must Die Forever. Nintendo Switch 2 players can access it now.
The mode can be unlocked after finishing the main story. According to Capcom, it includes “the nonstop combat action that players know and love from legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy.” The mode has you fighting through areas you’ve visited previously throughout the game and ultimately taking on the final boss, all with stronger enemy variants, five increasingly difficulty ranks, and a race against the clock. Leon can unlock “enhanced abilities” exclusive to the mode.

Nacon and Crea-ture are teaming up on the just-revealed Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Rageborn, the companies have announced. A release is planned for 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Rageborn is based on the famous World of Darkness universe. The top-down Metroidvania game lets players switch between human, wolf, and werewolf forms to lead the fight against the mega-corporation Pentex.

Nacon and Passtech Games are making a native Nintendo Switch 2 version of Ravenswatch, they’ve announced. It will be available this fall.
Specifics about what’s planned for the Nintendo Switch 2 version have yet to be provided. Compared to the Nintendo Switch release though, expect to see technical improvements.
