Amazon shoppers may now need to watch out for fake Nintendo Switch 2 cartridges
We have a new warning for you regarding second-hand Nintendo Switch 2 games sold on Amazon which can actually break your system.
Attention has been brought to Resetera user jokkir, who picked up Pragmata through the retailer’s warehouse section. Although purchasing the game this way can save you a bit of cash, it’s not without some risks.
After trying to play Pragmata on their system, jokkir tried removing the cartridge, but was unable to do so. They then tried to pry it out and seemingly broke some pins while trying to remove it. jokkir tried loading up other games after that, but didn’t have any luck. After looking at it further, the game card was basically an empty shell and was missing the insides of the game which is why it may have gotten stuck.
To put this another way, the copy sold here was not the real thing. It was a fake, but that may not have been immediately noticeable. If you do choose to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 game this way, we’d suggest being extremely careful.
In some ways this sounds similar to what Nintendo Switch dealt with in the past in which they’d buy physical copies, but no games were included. Instead, googly eyes were found inside the box. We have more on that here.
Speaking of Amazon, the retailer has a ton of different digital Switch games on sale from Nintendo. Get the full list here.
