According to Nintendo, the patch is focused on changes to matchmaking and multiplayer balance. Aside from adjustments to weapons, there are also modifications to X Battle matchmaking.

Here’s the full rundown:

Splatoon 3 11.0.1 update

Splatoon received a version 11.0.1 update just a few days ago, fixing a couple issues with the game’s controls and multiplayer. As it turns out, Nintendo revealed that a couple of weapon balance changes were accidentally thrown into the update as well.

Nintendo has decided to not to remove the additional changes, as they were meant to arrive in an upcoming update. It should also be noted that these additional balance patches won’t be found in the original 11.0.1 update patch notes.

Splatoon 3 11.0.1 update

Another update for Splatoon 3 is about to arrive with version 11.0.1. The patch should be available today.

With this update, Nintendo is looking to address a few specific issues. The company is addressing a few things with controls / multiplayer.

The full rundown is as follows:

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has spoken about why the company came out with free major updates for Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Splatoon 3.

Last month, Animal Crossing received its big 3.0.0 patch at no extra cost alongside a paid Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Meanwhile, Splatoon 3 also just dropped a big patch with health bars and more, but last year, version 10.0.0 dropped which included some enhancements for Nintendo Switch 2 players.

During the Q&A session of Nintendo’s financial results this week, Furukawa had this to say when asked about the business rationale for releasing such major free updates for existing Switch titles after the Switch 2 launch:

Recently, Nintendo released an update for Splatoon 3, a title which originally released over three years ago. At the time of writing, the developers are still re-running old events, but the game is in the latter half of its lifespan – it isn’t receiving any “true” new content. Or so we thought! For whatever reason, Splatoon 3’s 11.0.0 update makes all sorts of changes that will affect players both casual and competitive.

Splatoon 3 update 11.0.0

Nintendo is still delivering updates for Splatoon 3, and this week, version 11.0.0 is going live. Players can download it starting January 28 (January 29 in Europe).

The update includes Flow Aura, the ability to see an opponent’s remaining health, hit detection changes, and more. The latest balance adjustments and fixes are here as well.

The full rundown is as follows:

An interesting post previously went up on Nintendo’s recruitment website from an artist that worked on Splatoon 3. As part of this, we learn about the challenges of making illustrations and why it was far from a straightforward process.

The first takeaway is that the artist “needed to display a world that was rougher when compared to the past games” given the new setting of Splatsville. The initial difficulty came about as the artist “was focused a bit too much on drawing the action poses correctly, which resulted in them feeling too small and lacking energy.” He then turned to others on the team that were able to “maximize the charm of Splatoon 3” through his art. Ultimately it sounds like a rewarding job as the staffer was already a fan of the franchise and received positive feedback about his illustrations from around the world.

Another Splatfest is in the books with the Frosty Fest 2026 event, and Nintendo has now posted the results. Players were asked about who they spend their time with for the holidays – family, friends, or solo.

At halftime, in terms of clout, Team Friends had the lead with 35.09 percent. As we tend to see though, things were close as Team Family had 31.51 percent and Team Solo was at 33.40 percent.

There could be something happening with Splatoon 3 on Nintendo Switch 2 as a new rating has now appeared. Over on the PEGI website, a separate entry has been added for that console.

Splatoon 3 actually already received a new update earlier this year targeted at Nintendo Switch 2 players. The patch brought along enhanced visuals and a better frame rate, particularly in locations like Splatsville and the Grand Festival Grounds. We have more information about that here.
