Animal Crossing Pokemon Pokopia lessons

When Pokemon Pokopia was first announced for Nintendo Switch 2, I don’t think any of us really saw the game’s incredible success coming. However, it released to rave reviews just recently, and it’s so polished and well thought-out that it truly gives Animal Crossing a run for its money. In fact, many of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ biggest problems – namely its lackluster multiplayer and numerous design hurdles and limitations – feel like they were specifically addressed in Pokemon Pokopia. As a result, Pokopia actually feels like another Animal Crossing game – just with an overarching story and a bigger focus on progression. Compared to New Horizons, Pokopia has been met with an outpouring of love and support from the Pokemon community – in fact, it may be the best-received Pokemon title of the past several years. So today, we’re going over all of the bits and pieces Animal Crossing could lift from Pokopia for its next title.

Another Nintendo game has been used in a social media post from the White House, and this time it’s Animal Crossing’s turn.

National Agriculture Week 2026 recently just took place with National Agriculture Day specifically happening on March 24. The White House felt that Animal Crossing was a good fit to promote this, and decided to feature the franchise in a piece of art (pictured above).

A short clip was also shared online. We’ve included that below.

My Nintendo is back with another physical reward in North America, and this time it’s for Animal Crossing. Tying in with last week’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of New Horizons and the 3.0.0 update, a bandana has been made available.

The bandana measures 22”x22” and is made out of polyester. It features fan-favorite characters like Tom Nook, KK Slider, and more. The design also includes the game logo and images of fruits from the series such as apples, cherries, and pears.

Animal Crossing New Horizons 2.0.8 update

There’s no doubt that Animal Crossing is currently one of Nintendo’s most popular franchises, cementing its place in history with the massive success of New Horizons, which has sold over 45 million copies worldwide. The game has even been praised for being a comforting companion during the global COVID-19 pandemic.

But did you know the franchise almost ended up with a completely different name? In a recent interview with Time Extension, former Nintendo localization manager Leslie Swan shared the challenges of translating the series original title, Dōbutsu no Mori, for Western audiences.

Best Animal Crossing games

Compared to other easily-ranked Nintendo franchises, Animal Crossing is a bit different. At the time of writing, there are only a handful of main series Animal Crossing games and even fewer spin-offs. Most of them are incredibly high quality and well-received by fans, with only a small number of exceptions. There also aren’t quite as many games in the Animal Crossing series compared to some of Nintendo’s other juggernauts – these games take a long time to develop, and we suspect it’ll be a while before we see a new Animal Crossing game on Nintendo Switch 2.

In the meantime, we’ve made our own subjective list of the best Animal Crossing games, ranked from worst to best. Do note that we’re not including Animal Crossing Plaza (which really had very little to it) or Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp; the former is defunct and we’re focused more on Nintendo platform games for this ranking. Here’s what we came up with.

Animal Crossing New Horizons New Leaf comparison

Today, we’re looking at the two most popular games in the Animal Crossing series: New Horizons and New Leaf. More specifically, we’re comparing and contrasting them to determine which is the better experience and how a future game could blend elements of both to make something really special.

In response to significant issues being found in the latest update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo has announced that they are working to address the bugs in a future update. In addition, the issues are preventable, and Nintendo has also explained a suggested workaround for the bugs. No complete patch notes have been offered yet. Here are the details:

Animal Crossing

The Animal Crossing franchise is officially 20 years old. In Japan, the series first debuted on April 14, 2001.

Animal Crossing first started out as an N64 title, which was Japan-exclusive. It received an updated version on the GameCube at the end of 2001, with a worldwide release happening later.

The latest Animal Crossing game, New Horizons, came to Switch last March.
