Pickmon, upcoming Pokemon and Palworld clone, is changing its name
The team behind Pickmon has announced that the game is changing its name.
In March, Networkgo and PocketGame announced the new project for Nintendo Switch. It became immediately apparent that Pokemon and Palworld were key inspirations.
Despite that fact, the team’s statement indicates that the change is happening for another reason. Apparently it’s being done in order to “better align with our brand identity and lore”. Going forward, Pickmon will be known as Pickmos.
The full statement reads:
Since the beginning of development, we have been dedicated to building a unique and profound ecological world. To better align with our brand identity and lore, our title is officially changing: Pickmon → Pickmos. What does “-mos” represent? A complete Ecosystem. A grand Cosmosl This name carries a more powerful presence, acting as a better vessel for the fantasy adventure we are building for you. But we cute creatures are still collectively known as Pickmon! See you in the world of Pickmos!
This is ultimately a pretty small change as it comes down to a single letter being different. But even though it wasn’t acknowledged in the statement, having “mon” in the title just would have been too similar to Pokemon.
Pickmos will be on Nintendo Switch in the future. You can learn more about the project here.
