Asian-inspired action RPG The Relic: First Guardian slated for Nintendo Switch 2 [update: delayed]

March 5: Today, Perp Games and Project Cloud Games shared the news that they’re planning a Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Relic: First Guardian. We’ll be seeing it later this year.

The Relic: First Guardian is an Asian-inspired action RPG in which players go on an adventure to save the world. Players will need to find the pieces of a broken great relic after the once-prosperous Arsiltus is swallowed up by the void and transformed into the land of death.

Experience unique, blended gameplay, storytelling, and combat in this eight-minute slice of what’s soon to come. A rich tapestry of ancient tales is yearning to be unearthed where every story is woven into the fabric in the continent of Arsiltus – even amid combat. This is the unique experience awaiting in The Relic: First Guardian.

Featuring 70 formidable “Brutals,” each with a personal tale of sorrow, overcoming these massive bosses will require mastering the diverse combat system. Use a combination of unique weapons, magic, and skills tailored to your playstyle, all while crucially managing your stamina where every defense and dodge counts. Defeating each Brutal means The Last Guardian will inherit their tragic story, along with powerful special items and upgrades essential for progression.

Exploring vast environments will lead you towards fragments that unlock more skills, armor, and weapons. Leave no stone unturned, no corner unexplored, and no dungeon uncompleted.

April 9: The game has now been delayed to later this summer. Here’s a statement from Rob Edwards, CEO of Perp Games:

“The Relic: First Guardian is the first game made by the talented Project Cloud Games studio. It’s a highly ambitious title that has seen years of hard work poured into it. Given this, the team want to take just a little more time to polish their world and hence announce that we are pushing back the release date from May 26th to the summer of 2026.
