Japan’s best-selling games of March 2026 – huge debut for Pokemon Pokopia
New data provided by Famitsu gives us a look at Japan’s best-selling games of March 2026.
This was a big month for new releases. Pokemon Pokopia, despite being a game-key card, is clearly the winner with over 800,000 copies sold. Resident Evil Requiem also did well – it has two spots here between the Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5 versions. And finally, Monster Hunter Stories 3 released with a little over 50,000 physical copies sold on Nintendo’s console.
Below is the full list of Japan’s best-selling games of March 2026:
1. [NS2] Pokemon Pokopia – 821,687 / NEW
2. [PS5] Resident Evil Requiem – 202,209 / NEW
3. [NS2] Monster Hunter Stories 3 – 53,489 / NEW
4. [NS2] Resident Evil Requiem – 48,389 / NEW
5. [NS2] Mario Kart World – 44,431 / 2,880,343
Pokemon Pokopia led The Pokemon Company to be the top publisher of the month. Thanks to Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, Capcom follows in second. We’re typically used to seeing Nintendo on top here, but the only new release was Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, which launched at the end of the month.
Another way in which Pokemon Pokopia impacted things is with hardware sales. Nintendo Switch 2 sold 457,000 units, up significantly from the prior month (about double). The original Nintendo Switch also rose a bit, moving 100,000 units.
Thanks to Famitsu for the information above. We have sales charts for previous months in Japan as well as data for other regions here.
