Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse won’t be a roguelike or roguelite, according to Konami.

Following the game’s recent announcement, some fans wondered if the upcoming title will be pursuing those genres. That’s because Evil Empire, a studio involved with Dead Cells, is leading development on Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. Dead Cells is very much known for its roguelike gameplay.

As for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, head of communications Tommy Williams for Konami in the Americas has commented on what to expect. It’ll be an action adventure title, and it looks like we’re getting fully handcrafted experience here.

The official statement shared by The Verge is as follows:

“Castlevania Belmont’s Curse is a 2D Action-Exploration game where players can freely explore vast, elaborately crafted maps. It is not a roguelike or roguelite game.”

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will be appearing on Nintendo Switch later in 2026. In case you missed it, we have a trailer for the game here.
