Outbound release date

March 3: The release date for Outbound has now come in. Just shared during the Indie World Showcase, it’s heading to both Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch on April 23, 2026.

Outbound was first announced for Nintendo Switch in 2024. Then towards the end of last year, it confirmed a Nintendo Switch 2 version. The most recent launch window we had was Q2 of this year.

Here’s some information about the game:

Outbound is a cozy open-world exploration game set in a utopian near future. Start with an empty camper van and turn it into the home of your dreams – alone or together with your friends. Build and explore at your own pace. Collect materials, craft, and build in and on top of your vehicle with modular parts. Advance in technology and efficiently use energy to power your home.

Key Features

  • Explore: Explore a colorful world in your electric camper van, powered by the sun, wind, or water. Discover iconic landmarks across diverse biomes.
  • Build & Craft: Build your moving base with a modular building system. Customize your vehicle with paint, decorations, and furniture to create your own perfect cozy place.
  • Grow: Create gardens to grow a variety of plants and mushrooms. Enjoy them fresh or cook delicious meals to stay healthy on the road.
  • Best friends forever: Adopt a new friend at the Paws & Whiskers Lodge who you can feed, pet, and train to help you.
  • Play together: Go on a road trip across diverse biomes and build your home on wheels solo or in co-op with up to 4 players online.

April 15: The game is seeing a last-minute delay. Silver Lining Interactive and Square Glade Games are moving the game to May 14, 2026. Today’s announcement mentions that “the development team has identified specific bumps on the virtual road that require immediate attention” and will take advantage of “a few extra weeks for final tuning and polish.”

The Outbound team said:

“We’ve had to make the difficult decision to delay Outbound to May 14th. Late in the process, an issue has been identified that could negatively impact your enjoyment of the game. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to still guarantee a release across all platforms on the originally planned date. Please be assured that our team has worked extremely hard to address this and did everything possible to stay on schedule. We know that you may be disappointed by this news, but appreciate your understanding and believe the delay will result in a more polished, bug-free experience.”
