GameStop declares Nintendo Wii U as a retro console, trade-in bonus offer announced

Today, GameStop said it has “issued an official declaration” that the Wii U is now a retro console. The same also goes for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The retailer had a bit of fun with this on social media, saying it made the determination “following careful analysis of multiple indicators” which includes “the presence of component cables, the lack of Fortnite, and the realization that they launched when George W. Bush was still president.”

A new first-party Nintendo sale is now happening at retailers with several Switch games included.
Right now you can save up to 50 percent on a handful of titles. Super Mario RPG, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and a few more are on sale.

GameStop has kicked off one of the biggest sales we’ve seen to date for amiibo.
A bunch are now going for just $6 while others are $16. You can save on amiibo in the Smash Bros., Super Mario Odyssey, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Street Fighter 6 lines. Even the recent Donkey Kong Bananza figure with Pauline is included.

A big Nintendo Switch digital sale has started up at GameStop, and consumers can save big on codes that can be redeemed on the eShop. Both first-party and third-party games are included.
From Nintendo, highlights include Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and the Xenoblade Chronicles games. From third-parties, Persona 5 Royal is at its lowest price while Sonic x Shadow Generations and other are also discounted.

There’s a new, easy way to get a Mimikyu with Electric as its Tera Type in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as part of a distribution at GameStop.
The retailer is now offering a free code card for the games with a chance to claim the creature. Visit a local store by October 29 to pick one up for yourself. The Mimikyu comes in a Cherish Ball, has the Classic Ribbon, and is holding a Life Orb that increases the damage of all its moves at the cost of its HP. It also features the move Thunderbolt, which will receive a same-type attack bonus while Mimikyu is Terastallized into an Electric-type Pokemon.

A new buy 1, get 1 free sale for August 2023 is now live at GameStop, and a number of first-party and third-party Switch games are included.

GameStop has just started up a new buy 1, get 1 free sale for June 2023.
Pokemon Sword, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, New Pokemon Snap, Live A Live, Super Mario Party, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim are some of the highlights. All platforms are included. Over 400 titles are a part of the sale, and it looks like you can mix and match. If you find something for Switch and PS4 for example, you should be able to get the discount (as long as you both titles are a part of the B1G1).

Original (4/16): GameStop has kicked off a small but notable buy 1, get 1 free sale which includes a number of first-party Switch games.
In terms of Nintendo-published titles, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Bayonetta 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl are among the highlights. A few third-party games are also included like Octopath Traveler II (which has been discounted to $44.99 by the way). More distributions for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are on the way to GameStop and Target, with players having the opportunity to obtain Genesect, Volcanion, and Marshadow.
