Mario Tennis Fever review

System: Switch 2
Release date: February 12, 2026
Developer: Camelot
Publisher: Nintendo

In many ways other than the obvious, Switch 2 has marked a new era of sorts for Nintendo. The Switch generation, while no doubt one of the company’s greatest, had its fair share of flaws – and one of those flaws was its lackluster sports games. Time and time again, we saw Nintendo-published sports outings launch with minimal content, receive free updates for a few months, and then fizzle out and fade from conversation. This issue reached a boiling point with Mario Strikers: Battle League, which had solid core gameplay, but next to no content to speak of. Mario sports have been pretty quiet since then, but now we’ve got another new entry in the Mario Tennis series with Mario Tennis Fever on Nintendo Switch 2. This title promises all sorts of chaotic tennis action, and it most certainly delivers on that promise. But how does it hold up in other areas?

Thanks to Nintendo, we have the launch trailer for Mario Tennis Fever. The sports game makes its worldwide debut today.

Mario Tennis Fever 1.0.1 update

Many games have day-one updates these days, and that’s the case with Mario Tennis Fever and version 1.0.1.

This seems to be a pretty small patch. Nothing new is added, but Nintendo says that gameplay has been improved.

The official rundown is as follows:

Nintendo and Camelot have just released the opening movie for Mario Tennis Fever. This will display right when players boot up the game.

Mario Tennis Fever characters

Nintendo has now confirmed the entire Mario Tennis Fever roster, and we have the full list of characters.

When the game was first revealed last year, we heard that this would be the most-packed entry in the series. That applies to elements like the modes, but also the roster. And now thanks to today’s trailer, we know of everyone planned for the title.

Nintendo has come out with a brand new overview trailer for Mario Tennis Fever.

Much of what we see here was initially covered as part of the initial reveal. Various aspects are explored in detail though, including amiibo support. In Mario Tennis Fever.

Bowser Jr., Bowser, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Rosalina, Yoshi, Waluigi, Wario, Toad, Daisy, and Donkey Kong are all compatible figures. Scan one of these amiibo in Mario Tennis Fever to use a tennis ball with the design based on the character.

Mario Tennis Fever is in the works for Nintendo Switch 2, it’s just been announced. The game launches on February 12, 2025.

38 playable characters will be included, which is the most in series history. There’ll be a Tournament Mode, the Trial Towers Mode, Mix It Up Mode (with Wonder Effects from Super Mario Bros. Wonder), and online support. You can also swing your Joy-Con like a racket in another mode. On top of that, a story mode is included in which Mario and the rest of the gang are transformed into babies.

Here’s what Nintendo is saying about the game thus far:

Golden Sun remake

Today, we’re talking about Golden Sun, one of Nintendo’s forgotten RPG series, and why it deserves a remake – be it on Switch or Switch 2.

At the time of writing, Wario Land, Kid Icarus, Rhythm Heaven, and Punch-Out all have something in common: they’re beloved by fans, but haven’t received a new game in a very long time. There’s another dormant franchise that’s arguably more obscure, though: Golden Sun, a Nintendo-exclusive RPG series developed by Camelot. If you recognize that name, it’s because they usually develop Mario Sports games. They haven’t released any titles since Mario Golf: Super Rush on Nintendo Switch in 2021.

Golden Sun and its sequel, The Lost Age, are available on Nintendo Switch Online. Despite that, though, you don’t see many talking about it. It’s a very classic-feeling RPG, as you might expect, and it stars Isaac, who you may have seen as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I recently played Golden Sun for the very first time and found that it’s absolutely worth talking about in the modern day. It’s very far ahead of its time.
