Pokemon Pokopia is selling out around the world
While we don’t have exact numbers just yet, it looks like Pokemon Pokopia is a smash hit on Nintendo Switch 2 with the game selling out worldwide.
Let’s take a look at the U.S. first. Many retailers do not currently have the game available in stock – and that’s despite the fact that it came on a controversial game-key card. Best Buy, Walmart, and Target are not taking orders at this time. Amazon technically has the game in stock, but has strangely increased the price to $80 – perhaps to take advantage of the hype right now.
We’re not as familiar with retailers outside of the U.S., but over in Canada, similar things are happening. Walmart Canada confirmed that it “sold through our initial allotment” because of “massive demand”. Now fans can pre-order the game for wave 2.
Similar things are happening in the UK and Japan. According to reports, the game “was seriously undersupplied at UK retail.” And over in Japan, big stores like Yodobashi have sold out.
We should have our first concrete sales report later this week. Famitsu will be coming in with Japanese data Wednesday morning, so stay tuned for that.
In other Pokemon Pokopia news, Game Freak recently shared where the game’s name actually comes from. We have the details here.
Nintendo Everything is a participant in the Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop affiliate programs. The website may receive a partial commission through orders placed with these retailers.
