Opening movie and select soundtracks released for Villion: Code, battle system detailed

Posted on February 19, 2026 by in News, Switch, Switch 2

Compile Heart has released a wealth of new information for Villion: Code, as well as dropping the opening movie, some new screenshots, and a couple of BGMs. Both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 users can expect this game to release on June 25, 2026 in Japan.

Here’s the full rundown:

■ Cooperating with Party Members

Skill Switch

During battle, by consuming your party members’ skill gauges, you can activate their mutated skill. After activating the skill, the player character switches to the character who used the skill, allowing you to fight while controlling that character.

RUSH

By hitting stunned enemies with certain attacks or mutated skills, you can trigger a “RUSH.” During a RUSH, you can use your party members’ mutated skills and the protagonist’s RUSH skills without consuming the skill gauge. By cooperating with your party members and activating skills consecutively, you can deal great damage.

Bounce Back from an Out-of-Bounds Defeat

When button prompts appear on screen, a successful input allows you to “Bounce Back” from outside the battlefield, enabling you to avoid being knocked out due to an out-of-bounds defeat. The higher your favorability with your party members, the easier the button inputs become, making it easier to Bounce Back.

Stun and Attribute Unlock

By dealing damage to enemies alongside your party members, you can build up a gauge to trigger “Stun” and “Attribute Unlock.” During Stun, you can deal great damage, while Attribute Unlock activates special effects based on the attribute. The protagonist’s “Awareness” attribute is especially powerful, allowing him to stop time for a short period.
