Every game rumored for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026

Posted on April 11, 2026 by in Features, Switch 2

Right now, we’re in a bit of a quiet stretch on Switch 2 – which isn’t to say we aren’t getting any games – but at the time of writing, the only titles we’ve got with confirmed release dates from Nintendo are Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and Rhythm Heaven Groove. And two of those are Switch 1 games. Splatoon Raiders and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave still lack concrete release dates, and we currently don’t have any new title releasing in June that we know of, either.

That said, there are plenty of speculation floating around here and there, and today we’re compiling every rumored game (thanks to BrTrueV for the idea on this one) that we’ve heard is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 – plus the sources of each claim. Of course, just because something is rumored doesn’t mean it’s going to happen, but it never hurts to speculate… as long as we keep our expectations in check.

A remake of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

This is very recent as far as rumored Nintendo Switch 2 games go, but it comes from NateTheHate’s recent podcast episode. All that was stated is pretty much that this remake exists, but we don’t really know what the scope of it is. It could be a full remake from the ground up, or maybe an enhanced version of Ocarina of Time 3D? We have no idea, but it would make a lot of sense to release a Zelda remake this year to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary. Especially considering that at the time of writing, we haven’t heard anything about the anniversary from Nintendo this year yet. At any rate, this is supposedly due for holiday 2026, so we’ll see if it winds up coming to fruition or not.

NateTheHate will come up several times throughout this post. There’ll always be pushback against insiders, but NateTheHate has a proven track record at this point with many of his claims coming to fruition. We’ll not be posting rumors from others as they aren’t as trustworthy.

A brand-new Star Fox game

Even without factoring in rumors, it makes a lot of sense to release a new Star Fox game. Fox McCloud made a substantial appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and it checks out that Nintendo would want to capitalize on his newfound exposure to general audiences.

The actual rumor also comes from NateTheHate’s podcast, and this new game is supposedly a “classic-style” Star Fox title, which implies that it’s in a similar category to Star Fox 64 rather than something like Star Fox Adventures. The visuals are supposedly very good, and there’s apparently online multiplayer here as well. There’s a lot of “supposedly” here, but again, this new game’s existence is much more likely given Fox’s appearance in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie. One last thing here – this Star Fox title is said to be revealed in April, most likely via Nintendo Today or a random social media announcement. Maybe this will be the June title?

Upcoming Switch 2 Editions

Rounding out our NateTheHate coverage, rumors of Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Pikmin 4 and potentially Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are also circulating. According to one of his recent statements, there’s also either a new Nintendo Switch Sports title coming up, or a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition – which one it is is currently unclear. Interestingly enough, there is potential evidence completely separate from rumors that points to a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Pikmin 4 – the game does not work with the new Handheld Mode Boost feature. Likewise, Nintendo Switch 1 games with Switch 2 Editions don’t work with it, either. The gap between Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Pikmin 4 was a long one, so it’s probably going to be a while before we ever see a Pikmin 5 – so it does make sense to bring back Pikmin 4. Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s rumored rerelease or remake doesn’t have as many substantial claims backing it, but it’s the Xenoblade game on Nintendo Switch that’s most in need of a performance upgrade.

3D Mario?

The ever-elusive Nintendo Switch 2 3D Mario has been rumored for a long time, but try as we might, we can’t find too many substantial claims on this one. That said, NateTheHate’s recent podcast episode (which we’re quoting a lot, so you should probably just go listen to it at this point) “reveals” that it’s coming in 2027, not 2026. Of course, it’s quite impossible to delay a game that hasn’t been announced, but to be honest, 3D Mario is really important – it absolutely needs all the time it wants to ensure that it releases at top-notch quality. We know nothing about what the game is like, only that it exists. And it’s also not Super Mario Titans, the AI-generated 3D Mario “leak” you may have seen going around on social media. Hopefully it isn’t, at least.

A whole bunch of third-party titles

A new Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition rating was recently spotted, and this is a game that currently has not been announced for any platform. We’re not too sure what new features this would get on non-Nintendo system – if we remember right, Frontiers already received an update that added a new ending, which feels like something that could’ve been in a definitive edition – but on Nintendo Switch 2, this game would massively benefit from visual and performance updates. On Nintendo Switch 1, Sonic Frontiers was significantly held back by the console’s hardware.

We’ve also seen ratings for Hi-Fi Rush on Nintendo Switch, but this game hasn’t been announced for Switch 2 as of yet. On the topic of ratings, Devil May Cry 5 was spotted for Nintendo Switch 2 recently as well. There are similar rumors about Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Hellraiser: Revival. For another listing, SnowRunner has been heavily leaked and we’re really just waiting on the official word at this point.

Don’t forget about the long-standing claim that Stellar Blade is due for the console at some point. Starfield has been rumored to be coming to Nintendo Switch 2, but NateTheHate recently mentioned that development “hasn’t been a smooth process”. Multiple news outlets have reported on Red Dead Redemption 2. There’s been talk of Resident Evil remakes (2, 3, and 4). NateTheHate has also mentioned titles like Expedition 33, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Final Fantasy 16 as possibly coming to Nintendo Switch 2. No official word yet, though. And going a bit further back, there was talk of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and “multiple Ubisoft titles” including the likes of The Division and Rainbow Six Siege.

Another long-rumored game for Nintendo Switch 2 is Monster Hunter Wilds. A previous update to the game on other platforms revealed images that appear to include Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, which you can read more about here.

For games that are not quite confirmed but are very likely, a Nintendo Switch 2 release of Mewgenics has been teased by the developers. Additionally, Suda51 has said the team is looking into a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Romeo is a Dead Man. This is a bit less definitive, but the studio behind Crimson Desert is exploring a port for the console – don’t expect it this year if it happens.

Then there’s Grand Theft Auto 6… and there’s no way that’s happening, right? Previously, NateTheHate claimed that efforts were made to bring the game to Nintendo Switch 2. However, that doesn’t mean a port will actually release. If we don’t see Grand Theft Auto 6 on the system right away, a port could happen later on. It’s also possible that nothing will materialize in the end.

At this present moment in time, those are all of the big Nintendo Switch 2 game rumors we can think of with at least a little bit of credibility. Rumors come and go at the drop of a hat, so there could be a new one tomorrow for all we know. Through all this, remember that nothing is confirmed, and that some or none of these games could wind up coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in the end.
