Epic Mickey will feature world-changing gameplay

“As you play through Disney Epic Mickey, what you do affects you and the game world, and changes how the game plays out. This includes what Guardians you attract, how many, which quests you can finish (and which you can’t), and how you finish the quests you do choose to take on. Some of your actions will affect who is in a particular part of the world, and how they treat you, including whether they choose to even give you quests.” – Epic Mickey producer Adam Creighton
I remember Warren Spector saying that originally, your actions would also change the way Mickey looked in the game, but they took that feature out because it upset some people to see their beloved character look really evil. I’m glad they’re still keeping the idea of a changing world in though! I suppose it wouldn’t be much of a Spector game if it didn’t feature that in some way…

– Cranky Kong the other other kong in the game other than Donkey/Diddy
– Cranky runs a shop, makes sarcastic remarks about what you buy
– Squawks is in the shop as well
– Six worlds
– Worlds have generic names like “Jungle
– Nintendo Power says it’s as hard as the original trilogy
– Tikis are part of the “Tiki Tak Tribe”
– A Tiki tries to posses DK at the beginning of the game, but gets sent flying
– Widescreen support
– New to the series: Alternate paths in worlds so you can skip levels
– Unlock concept art, music, and dioramas
– “Trophy level” in each world
– Need to earn these levels before they can be played (unknown how you can do this)
– One locked level in each world
– Need to purchase a key at Cranky’s shop to unlock those levels
– Rocket barrel: A to ascend, let go to descend

– Exclusive direct control of Elza during combat
– Move him with the analogue stick
– Guard/evade with manual button presses
– Manual mode available, enable it to attack with button presses
– Switch to combat automatically when you’re near an enemy
– No battle screen transition
– Gathering Burst: When Elza blocks an incoming enemy attack in Gathering mode, he’ll do a “Burst Up,” build up this power to unleash a Gathering Burst attack when he comes out of Gathering mode (damages enemies and might reduce their speed)
– Cure: Elza can recover fallen allies by touching them in Gathering mode, party member will have temporary ability boosts
– Freeze time and enter “Command Mode”
– In Command Mode, can assess the situation and issue commands to allies, directing which magic you want them to use and where you want them to move
– Elza shown ordering Kanan to cast one of Holy, Return, or Heal magic in Famitsu scans
– Holy spell: Attack based off light, party defense strength increases when spread
– Heal spell: Recovery magic, HP and status effects cleared when used
– Return: Warp to a “Heal Circle” nearby
– Specify a spell’s precise position when selected
– Camera moves above the action when selecting a target
– Command Mode can be used on Elza
