Square Enix carried out maintenance yesterday so that it could add twenty servers for Dragon Quest X. The total server count is now at around 40.

Going forward, Square Enix has plans to correct a number of issues. Dragon Quest X is currently experiencing chat and friend functionality bugs, but these problems are expected to be ironed out within the next week or so. There are also plans to enhance server code so that each server can serve a greater capacity.

Players experiencing Dragon Quest X should be aware of one very important tidbit. Square Enix’s FAQ section for the game says that users may lose their character data if they do not log in for online play for over three months.

When you think about it, this decision does make sense. It would be a bit pointless keeping that sort of data on the servers if it isn’t being accessed. By removing the character information for active players, it may help the servers’ workload.
