Sonic Lost World includes a two-player racing mode. IGN shared a few details explaining how it works today.

In the mode, two players race through more difficult versions of areas found in the single-player campaign. Checkpoint gates are sprinkled throughout, and when one player passes through, both users are teleported to a mid-race starting line. Along with a small reward, the victor in the previous second earns a three-second head start.

Sonic Lost World will also sport leaderboards. These appear to go beyond simple online rankings – as the team teased to IGN – though further details are currently unavailable.

Sonic Lost World’s North American release date has been postponed by a week, it would seem. A new trailer put out by SEGA today now shows an October 29th launch for the Wii U and 3DS games.

Sonic Lost World was originally expected to hit US shelves on October 22. It’s still on track to arrive on October 18 in Europe.
