Update: Gone!

The Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate New 3DS XL bundle can be ordered once again at GameStop. Remember: it’s exclusive to the retailer in the U.S., so other stores won’t be carrying the system. For those that are interested, an order can be placed here.

GameStop will be hosting an event early next month so that consumers can go hands-on with the New 3DS XL before it launches. It will take place on Saturday, February 7 from 1 PM to 4. In terms of game titles, Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be playable.

You can check to see if there will be a participating GameStop close to your area here.

Nintendo is preparing a special bonus for those who purchase an early copy of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D in Japan. Those who pick up the game around launch will receive the game’s soundtrack, which was originally made available when the Wii game came out a few years ago. A similar bonus has not been announced for the west.

Update: Best Buy is sending out an email to consumers confirming that low stock is to blame. $50 credit is being offered to compensate.

We’re sorry but there is an issue with your pre-order. The popularity of Nintendo 3DS XL Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Limited Edition Gold/Black exceeded the quantities made available to Best Buy. As a result, we are unable to fulfill all of the pre-orders received. We regret that your particular order has been canceled and we know that this is disappointing. We want to make it up to you by offering a $50 discount that may be used towards the purchase of one of these alternate options, or other products on BestBuy.com/

The Majora’s Mask New 3DS XL situation just got a whole lot messier at Best Buy. We’re hearing that a slew of people have experienced order cancellations today.

This is different than what we reported on earlier this week, in which Best Buy started cancelling orders containing more than one system. Unfortunately, those who did only order one Majora’s Mask New 3DS XL are now seeing cancellations as well.

Unlike older 3DS models, the New 3DS has moved the game slot to the bottom of the system. This can unfortunately lead to some accidental removal of cartridges.

Cyber Gadget is at least releasing a new accessory in Japan tomorrow to prevent such situations. The push guards pictured above cost about 1,200 yen each.
