February 5: Today, Falcom unveiled Kyoto Xanadu for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch. It’s planned for this summer.
Kyoto Xanadu is the series’ next game following Tokyo Xanadu. In the action RPG, players will dive deep beneath Kyoto, Japan to beat the monsters and mysteries.

During a ceremony at this year’s GDCA, winners were announced for the 2026 Game Developers Choice Awards.
A number of titles on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch were nominated here. Donkey Kong Bananza was up in several categories, but ultimately fell short of picking up a win. Worth noting, Blue Prince earned a couple of selections.

Pokemon Company details fixes coming to Pokemon Pokopia in upcoming patch

The Pokemon Company today outlined a number of fixes that are currently planned for Pokemon Pokopia.
There are several known issues that will be addressed with a patch. Additionally, a couple of small improvements are planned that will be included in the same update.

Kirby Air Riders almost brought back the old City Trial map, Sakurai explains why it didn’t happen

According to director Masahiro Sakurai, the Kirby Air Riders teamed considered bringing back the original City Trial map from the GameCube title.
That nugget of information was shared in a new developer post today. In it, Sakurai explained that despite that consideration, the team “just couldn’t pull it off” and bringing the map back would have required “tremendous cost and effort.”

White House now using Wii to promote Operation Epic Fury attacks against Iran

Earlier today, the White House posted a new video on social media for Operation Epic Fury, which has dragged Nintendo into the discussion for its use of Wii footage.
The clip starts out by offering a different take on the Wii Channels that were popular back in the day. After that, the clip is cut between gameplay from Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort as well as attacks on Iranian military infrastructure.
Pixel art roguelike space shooter Hyperwired lined up for Nintendo Switch

Announced today, Hyperwired is set for release on Nintendo Switch. SelectaPlay and SidralGames are bringing it out later in 2026.
Hyperwired is a top-down action shooter with roguelike elements featuring a spaceship that has a plug hanging from it. Players will wire into sockets, gather upgrades, and unlock ships as they explore a procedurally generated galaxy.
