Nintendo may have completed work on Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream a year ago

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream only just came out a few days ago, but it seems that it’s been about a year since Nintendo actually finished work on the game.

That news comes from the game’s USK rating. On the German classification website, we see that the game’s “inspection date” was May 20, 2025. It suggests that Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream could have been ready to go much earlier.

In the past, there have been claims of Nintendo “sitting” on games. Even if they’re ready for launch much earlier, the company can hold on to them for months of the time. Nintendo picks and chooses what it believes is the optimal time for release.

The longest time between rating and release from the USK was Metroid Prime Remastered at 561 days. Fire Emblem Engage wasn’t too far behind that at 515 days. Mario & Luigi: Brothership was 301 days.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream can be purchased on Nintendo Switch right now. The developers recently revealed that the project was in the works for almost ten years.
