Players report issues transferring Pokemon from Home to Pokemon Champions

Posted on April 8, 2026 by in News, Switch, Switch 2

After months of anticipation, Pokemon Champions has finally launched for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Unfortunately, its reception hasn’t been the most positive so far.

Players have taken to social media to report a variety of issues, including performance problems and bugs. However, one issue in particular has been gaining traction: some users are encountering an error when attempting to transfer Pokemon from the Pokemon Home app to Pokemon Champions. In certain cases, the transfer is blocked entirely, preventing completion or even sending the Pokemon back to Home.

In a report first published by Kotaku, competitive Pokémon player Justin “AzazeL” Carri shared his experience with the issue on X, with several other users replying that they had run into the same problem. The Pokemon Home error can appear when transferring Pokemon to Pokemon Champions. Similar error codes have reportedly appeared when transferring Pokémon to other titles over the years, indicating that this is not an entirely new issue.

In this case, however, affected Pokemon are marked as “visiting” Pokemon Champions within Pokemon Home. As a result, players are unable to trade them back or use them in Champions, effectively leaving them stuck in a kind of limbo where they cannot be accessed or recovered.

Some users have reported temporary fixes, such as uninstalling and reinstalling Pokemon Home, while others were advised to clear the cache of both the game and system. However, no solution appears to work consistently at this time.

As of now, The Pokemon Company has not issued an official statement regarding the situation. We’ll be sure to share any updates as they become available.

In case you missed it, Pokémon Champions has started distributing a new Mystery Gift today, allowing players to claim Machamp in-game. For more details, check it out here.
