A new statement has come in from Aspyr in which the company denied that Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered recently used generative AI for some of its content.

Last week, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered received a major update with its Challenge Mode. However, fans weren’t happy with the results. The unlockable outfits in particular have drawn criticism and some players feel that they’re not up to quality standards. Some went as far as to claim that the outfits make use of generative AI.

Following the negative fan response, Aspyr has stepped in with a statement. The company is promising patches for the trilogy to fix technical issues, but also says that “no Al generated assets were used in the update.”

The full statement reads:

We hear and appreciate your feedback regarding the recent Challenge Mode update for Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered. Our top priority is the delivery of a patch that will fix the texture issues and technical bugs. In addition, a series of updates are on the way to address a variety of technical issues across all platforms. This is also an opportunity to correct some mistaken information: The outfits in the update were created by our team of artists; no Al generated assets were used in the update. We’ll release more details on the patch content and timing as soon as possible. If you’d like to help us prioritize fixes you can report bugs at support.aspyr.com. Thank you for your patience and support.

Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered also saw a new Nintendo Switch 2 version last week. Read more about that and the new update here.
